Sustainable Community Health
In 2016, DSI provided training for Arkhangai aimag and Uvurkhangai aimag, 19 soums of both aimags (smaller units of aimag), local health staff, and conducted a comprehensive costing study at the aimag level. In all of its programs, DSI seeks to provide local governments with the tools necessary to build a sustainable health program for current and future generations.
DSI works with Arkhangai aimag and Uvurkhangai aimag, the Governor’s Office, and the Department of Health to improve health staff capacity, provide health finance training, and strengthen the local government’s capacity to manage the limited financial resources. In partnership with Arkhangai aimag and Uvurkhangai aimag, the Governor’s Office, the Department of Health, and the “Health and Immunization” NGO, DSI works with local governments to improve the capacity and productivity of local health staff by providing training in three main areas: performance management, financial management, and organizational management. Specifically, DSI works with key departments and NGOs of Arkhangai aimag and Uvurkhangai aimag to build management capacity, provide a comprehensive health staff training program, and develop strategies to help strengthen the local government’s capacity to effectively manage the limited financial resources available.
DSI provides real, tangible solutions for the local health staff to use in developing a strong evidence based advocacy program for its sustainable health programs in Arkhangai aimag.
